Trump accused of asking FBI to drop inquiry

A US congressional committee has asked the FBI to hand over all documents relating to conversations between its former head James Comey and President Donald Trump. The move follows allegations that Trump asked Comey to drop an investigation into links between his former National Security Advisor and Russia. The White House denies any wrongdoing, saying the president never made any such request. However Democrats are accusing Trump of obstruction of justice. Chuck Schumer is the Democrats leader in the Senate. “I was shaken by the report in the New York Times that alleged that the president tried to shut down an active FBI investigation into a close political associate. And we are only one day removed from stunning allegations that the president may have divulged classified information to a known adversary.”
