Yulia has been taken to a secure location in the UK. Doctors said the health of both has improved rapidly in the last few weeks. Russia denies claims that it ordered the poisoning of the Skripals.

US pledges forceful response to Douma attack

The United States has warned there will be a forceful response to the suspected chemical attack on the Syrian town of Douma. France has also said it's ready to respond - and any action is expected to be a coordinated effort by Western nations. Washington wants the UN to set up an inquiry into the incident. The US envoy to the UN, Nikki Haley, blamed the Syrian government for the attack - and said Russia bore a large share of responsibility. "Russia could stop this senseless slaughter - if it wanted. But it stands with the Assad regime. Pictures of dead children mean little to governments like Russia."

Public sector workers in Germany are striking over pay. The industrial action is causing disruption to air travel - with Lufthansa forced to cancel more than half its scheduled flights, because ground and security staff at airports are on strike. Pilots are also striking in France.

Hungarian opposition newspaper shuts down

A major opposition newspaper is closing in Hungary, after 80 years of publication. Magyar Nemzet was one of the last papers to oppose the right-wing government of Viktor Orban - and had been increasingly deprived of advertising revenue.
