Im Januar 1957 veröffentlichen die Brüder O'Kelly, Rudolph und Ronald Isley ihre erste Single. 2006 erscheint das bisher letzte Album der Isley Brothers.
Die Isley Brothers haben in ihrer mittlerweile 60-jährigen Karriere unzählige Personal- und Stilwechsel mitgemacht und während dieser Zeit Klassiker wie "Shout", "Twist and shout", "This old heart of mine" oder "Caravan of love" eingespielt. 1992 werden die Isley Brothers in die "Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame" aufgenommen. Die Entwicklung des Rhythm and Blues und der Soulmusik lässt sich an dieser Band geradezu exemplarisch nachvollziehen.
