Baby dies in West Bank attack
A Palestinian baby has died in an arson attack carried out by suspected Jewish settlers in a village in the West Bank. The parents and brother of the 18-month-old boy were injured in the attack. According to reports the word "revenge" in Hebrew was spray painted on one of the two homes which were firebombed. Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev said such attacks would not be tolerated: "the government of Israel unequivocally condemns this heinous crime, this act of terrorism. We will fight terrorism and we will defeat terrorism no matter who the perpetrators are. The people of Israel unite in condemning this act of senseless violence. And we will bring the perpetrators to justice." But Palestinian officials in the West Bank said they held the Israeli government "fully responsible". Hamas, which controls Gaza, has called for a day of rage.
