21 bodies found on Aegean coast

Turkish police say they've found the bodies of 21 people, including 3 children, at two separate locations on the Aegean coast after their boat capsized. The vessel was heading for the Greek island of Lesbos. Coast guard officials say three boats and a helicopter are searching for any survivors.

Kuwait recalls ambassador from Iran

Kuwait has become the latest country to take diplomatic action against Iran in response to the attack by protestors on the Saudi Arabian embassy in Tehran at the week-end. The Kuwaiti government said it was recalling its ambassador from the Iranian capital, describing the attacks as a flagrant breach of international norms. Saudia Arabia has cut off all ties with Iran in a row that began when the Saudi authorities executed a dissident Shia cleric, Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr. Saudia Arabia and Iran back opposing sides in the conflicts in Syria and Yemen. But the Saudi ambassador to the UN Abdallah Al-Mouallimi denied that the dispute would affect peace efforts in those countries: "we will attend the next Syria talks and we are not going to boycott them because of Iran or anybody else for that matter. If we decide to boycott them it would have to be for a better reason than that."

Obama takes action over gun control

The US President Barack Obama says he's taking executive action to tighten gun controls. The measures require gun sellers to get licenses and carry out background checks on buyers. After years of fierce opposition to the move, Obama says he's decided to bypass Congress but insisted that the measure would be widely supported: "the good news is that these are not only recommendations that are well within my legal authority but they're also ones that the overwhelming majority of the American people - including gun owners - support and believe in."

3 tonnes of cocaine seized in Spain

Police in Spain say they've seized three tonnes of cocaine and arrested 12 suspected drugs smugglers from Britain, the Netherlands and Spain. The drugs were recovered in the north-western region of Galicia. Officials say it's the largest seizure in the region in 17 years.

UK ministers to get free vote on EU

Reports coming of the UK say the British Prime Minister David Cameron is to announce that he's going to let government ministers campaign to leave the European Union in a referendum expected to be held this year. A number of cabinet ministers are thought to favour leaving the bloc. Cameron is seeking to renegotiate Britain's EU ties before the vote. He's said he wants Britain to remain in a reformed EU, but he does not rule out leaving if he can't get key changes.
