Wer kennt sie nicht, die berühmten gepfiffenen Kantilenen in den Sergio-Leone-Western "Für eine Handvoll Dollar" oder "Für ein paar Dollar mehr"? Für das Einspielen der Melodien haben Sergio Leone und Ennio Morricone ihren Jugendfreund Alessandro Alessandroni ins Studio geholt, der viel mehr als ein Kunstpfeifer war.
Alessandroni (1925-2017) hat bis zu 50 Instrumente gespielt und prägte den Sound der berühmten Italo-Western wesentlich mit. Seine Experimentierfreude war eine der Inspirationen für die Entwicklung von Ennio Morricones einzigartiger musikalischer Handschrift, die auch vom Einsatz außergewöhnlicher Instrumente und Geräusche (Peitschenschlag, Sitar, Okarina usw.) lebte.
Mit seinem Chor "I Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni" wurde Alessandro Alessandroni in den 1960er und 70er Jahren vielfach ins Studio geholt, beispielsweise von Piero Umiliani für das bekannte Stück "Mah Nà Mah Nà". Alessandronis musikalische Bandbreite umfasste Ausflüge in viele Genres, von Kunstpfeifer-Parts in Strawinsky-Kompositionen über Barock-Jazz-Fusionen und Hirtenlieder aus dem Latium bis hin zu Musik für Western, Horrorfilme, Exploitation-Movies und "Giallo Criminale"-Soundtracks für Thriller.
Er komponierte und spielte Experimental- und Ambient-Music-Alben ein, die inzwischen bei Plattensammlern Höchstpreise erzielen. Alessandro Alessandronis Musik wird heute auch mit Psychedelic Jazz, Crime-&-Mystery-Sounds, Dolce-Vita-Feeling, Afro-Funk und frühem Industrial-Sound assoziiert.
