3 killed in unrest in Bangkok

In Thailand, two protestors and one police officer have been reported killed in fresh clashes between riot police and anti-government protestors. The latest unrest happened as the authorities started to clear protest sites in the capital Bangkok. Meanwhile, the country's anti-corruption body has announced it will file charges against Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra over a controversial rice subsidy scheme.

Iran and international representatives have started the first round of talks on a long-term agreement concerning Tehran's controversial nuclear programme. The negotiations - which are happening in Vienna - aim to build on an interim deal reached in November, in which Iran agreed to curb uranium enrichment in return for the easing of international sanctions.

49 killed in attacks in Iraq

1 killed in violence at PNG camp

One asylum seeker has been killed and 77 injured during a second night of violence at Australia's immigration detention centre in Papua New Guinea. Papua New Guinea is one of two South Pacific nations where Australia operates camps to house asylum seekers who try to get to Australia by boat. Conditions in the camps have been strongly criticised by UN agencies and rights groups. Sarah Hanson-Young is a spokeswoman for the Australian Greens Party: "the reports that a person has died, that shots have been fired, that scores of individuals have been injured shows that it is untenable to keep the Manus Island detention camp open. It must be closed."

The weather

It’ll be mainly sunny in much of the country. But fog in the south, in the far east and in some Alpine valleys. High will be ranging mostly between 2 and 12 degrees, where there's a föhn up to 16.
