Greek bailout talks to start Friday

The Greek government says talks with its creditors on a third bailout worth around 85 billion euros will begin in Athens on Friday. The Greek parliament earlier voted overwhelmingly in favour of a second reform package, the final hurdle Greece was obliged to clear. The aim is to complete a deal by August 20. Thousands demonstrated outside the parliament as the bill was debated, with protests briefly turning violent. The Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras made clear that he was not happy with the measures creditors had imposed: "We will not be cowed. We will not surrender. We will not apologise for lost battles. Lost battles are the ones that were never fought in the first place. Our battles will plant a seed which will grow."
