Im CBGB's treten die wichtigsten Punk-Bands der USA auf, Patti Smith, Richard Hell, die Ramones, Iggy Pop und die Stooges, Blondie und viele mehr. Kurz davor stürzt im Sommer 1973 das Mercer Arts Center im Greenwich Village ein, in dem viele Künstler:innen und Musiker:innen aufgetreten waren. Sie suchen eine neue Bleibe und finden sie im neu eröffneten CBGB's. Das Lokal ist innen bald schon bedeckt mit Stickern und Graffiti, die Gegend ist eine der schlimmsten und gefährlichsten in Manhattan. Während im Rest der USA die klassischsten aller Classic Rock Songs geschrieben werden, vermischen sich hier Energie, enttäuschte Hoffnungen und Amphetamine zu einem brandheißen Cocktail.
