Einen glatzköpfigen Boogie-Pianisten nannte man Prof. Longhair, der ebenfalls aus New Orleans stammende Klangzauberer Mac Rebeneck gab sich den Künstlernamen Dr. John.
Es finden sich in der Musikgeschichte auch neben falschen Ärzten wie die britische Gruppe Dr. Feelgood auch echte Doktoren wie die Ärzte Dr. Alban oder Ringsgwandl sowie Doktoren h.c. Bob Dylan ist sogar doppelter Ehrendoktor. In Österreich haben bereits einige Musiker den Titel "Professor" erhalten, unter ihnen Prof. Heinz Conrads. Ihm gilt die finale Station dieses Museumsrundganges
