Ukraine ultimatum to pro-Russian activists
Ukraine's interior minister has warned pro-Russian activists who have taken over state buildings in several eastern cities to enter talks to find a political solution or face "force". Arsen Avakov said the situation would "be resolved in 48 hours" either way. Senior officials from the European Union, Russia, the United States and Ukraine are to meet next week to discuss the worsening situation. It will be the first four-way meeting since Moscow annexed Crimea last month.
New signals in search for missing airliner
Teams searching for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane in the southern Indian Ocean have again picked up signals that could be consistent with the "black box" flight recorders. Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston, who heads the agency co-ordinating the search, told journalists that an Australian Navy vessel heard the signals again on Tuesday afternoon and evening: "I believe we are searching in the right area but we need to visually identify aircraft wreckage before we can confirm with certainty that this is the final resting place of MH 370."
Deadly bombing in Pakistan
Pakistani officials say at least 20 people have been killed in a bomb attack at a busy market on the outskirts of the capital, Islamabad. The blast at the fruit and vegetable market reportedly left scores injured. The Pakistani Taliban, which has agreed a ceasefire as part of peace efforts, has denied involvement and condemned the attack.
Italy appeal over deepening immigration crisis

Italy is appealing to the EU to take action. Around 15,000 migrants have been rescued so far this year.
