Awarded
"WAGner Dich!" (idea, implementation and presentation: Hans Georg Nicklaus) won the Austrian Adult Education Radio Prize in the category interactive and experimental production for his idea "WAGner DICH!".
Thus "WAGner DICH" has collected new Rides of the Valkyries – either as a ride against Wagner or as a ride for Wagner: A call to creative disobedience...
Over 70 contributions were received, and presented online (oe1.ORF.at/wagnerdich) and on Oe1 ("Apropos Musik") on 22.5.13 (the actual anniversary).
The variety and quality of the contributions was both surprising and impressive: from computer adaptations, rap compositions, "classical" variations or paraphrases, yodelled and jazz Rides of the Valkyrie, to experimental "sound creations" (the Ride of the Valkyries for two typewriters). In this way "WAGner Dich" produced a creative homage to Wagner that was not the exclusive domain of Wagner fans but gave any listener who wanted the opportunity to confront Wagner in their own personal way, to create "their" homage to Wagner.

Kaltnadel-Crew
"Ride of the Valkyries" as a rap
"The Kaltnadel-Crew," according to their letter, "has existed since 2010 and comprises the rappers "MC Rhine", "Myrrha Okto Dezim Guttata" and "Der Magister". The Crew is currently producing radio play cassettes in editions of 10. The aim of their musical career is to remain unknown as far as possible. The cassettes are for sale at a price of 10,000 each. However, passing them on is strictly forbidden." Ah well, let's see whether they'll reduce the price a little.

"Yodel Valkyries"
The Yodel Valkyries presents a counter-world that contrasts with the density of Wagner's energy. Natural yodelling and shouts take it out of its massiveness and open up, no less powerfully, a world of simplicity and emotions. They awaken man's basic need to sound off.

"Audition Odyssey"
The song "Audition Odyssey" deals with the fears that auditions arouse in classical musicians. It begins with the cadenza from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker, a standard for auditions. Following this, the whole song is based on the Fire Magic harp passage. This part is particularly popular in auditions, since it is seen as the most difficult piece for harp altogether. The voice sings fearfully (in the chorus): Auditions make me shiver. And juries eat my liver. The harp strings are a blade. I wish I never played.
The lotus Eaters look like me. I want to play the chord in E. But they make me do mistakes. The chord somehow escapes.
