Israel demolishes attacker´s home

Israeli troops have reportedly destroyed the home of a Palestinian man who killed a woman and a baby by ramming a car into a Jerusalem tram stop last month. The demolition came a day after an attack on a synagogue in West Jerusalem which left four rabbis and a police officer dead. Israeli forces are also planning to demolish the homes of two Palestinian men who attacked the synagogue with a gun and meat cleavers before being shot dead. Middle East Expert Aaron David Miller says the violence will continue as long as there is no final peace agreement: "If there were serious negotiations and an actual agreement you could probably pre-empt and prevent much of this. But the reality is there isn´t such a process and right now there´s not going to be an agreement."

Egyptian security services say 10 civilians were killed overnight during fighting between the army and Islamist militants near Egypt's border with Gaza, where the military has launched a crackdown in recent weeks. Women and children are said to have been among those killed when the home of a prominent Bedouin family was hit by two mortar shells fired by militants during a night-time curfew.
