Dozens dead in Yemen suicide bombings

Suicide bombers have blown themselves up at three mosques in Yemen's capital, Sanaa. Some reports say that up to 30 people have been killed and the death toll is expected to rise. Worshippers had been attending noon prayers at the three mosques in the center of Sanaa when at least two bombers struck.

Nine arrested over Tunis attack

Officials in Tunisia say nine people have been arrested in connection with Wednesday’s gun attack in the capital Tunis. 20 foreign tourists were among the 23 people killed in the assault on the Bardo museum. In another development, Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Greece top table new reform plan

European Union leaders say Greece has agreed to come up with a list of reforms within days in order to secure the additional bailout funds required to prevent bankruptcy. The development came after marathon talks between the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and other European leaders in Brussels. Tsipras told reporters after the meeting that he was more optimistic: “I think that all the sides confirmed their intention to try to do their best to overcome the difficulties of the Greek economy as soon as possible.”

EU keeps sanctions on Russia

Separately, the EU leaders agreed to keep sanctions on Russia in place until the end of this year at the earliest. The sanctions, imposed because of Russia's alleged military intervention in Ukraine, are now linked to complete implementation of the ceasefire deal worked out in Belarus last month.

Obama sends message to Iranian people

The US President Barack Obama has released a video message for Iran to tell its people that a deal to transform the relationship between the two countries could be within reach. Six world powers are negotiating an agreement aimed at limiting Iran's nuclear activity, with a March deadline near. In his video, Obama said those talks had made progress but he warned that there were opponents to a deal in both countries: “My message to you, the people of Iran, is that together we have to speak up for the future we seek. As I ‘ve said many times before: I believe that our countries should be able to resolve this issue peacefully with diplomacy.”

Lufthansa pilot strike continues

Pilots from Germany’s national carrier Lufthansa are on strike for the third day in a row. Hundreds of short and medium haul flights have been cancelled and as many as 94-thousand passengers are affected by today’s action. The pilots are protesting efforts by Lufthansa management to change their retirement benefits.
