Hundreds of thousands of supporters and protestors have gathered in the city for the inauguration. In an address in Washington last night, Trump pledged to create more jobs, build up the military and strengthen the border: “We’re going to do things that haven’t been done for our country for many, many decades.” Trump comes into office as the least popular president in modern US history with an approval rating of 40%. In New York, thousands of people last night joined a protest march called to express concern about Trump’s policies, where actor Robert de Niro addressed them at Trump hotel: “We’re all rooting for the new administration, of course, to abandon the divisive, racist, misogynist ignorant plans it trumpeting and lead us with intelligence and compassion.”
