Afrobeats - Diagonal zu einer Pop-Revolution aus Westafrika
Eine neue Welle erobert den Globus. Afrobeats füllt heute Stadien in London oder New York und im August 2023 wird erstmals ein Album aus Afrika Nummer Eins der britischen Charts.

Musik aus Nigeria - dem mit Abstand bevölkerungsreichsten Land Afrikas - ist heute populärer denn je, eigene Charts messen das neue Fieber, während in einem neuen Wettlauf um Afrika westliche Labels versuchen, das kreative Potenzial abzuschöpfen. Gleichzeitig sind viele Menschen in der Diaspora durch diese Musik und ihre Meilensteine erstmals in ihrem Leben stolz darauf, woher sie kommen. Wenige Jahrzehnte nach dem Ende der Kolonialherrschaft, die das kulturelle Erbe vielfach ausgelöscht und multiethnische Nationalstaaten geschaffen hat, verändern sich die Warenströme im atlantischen Dreieckshandel. Mit Afrobeats wird eine eigene Geschichte geschrieben. Ein Trip durch Geschichte und Gegenwart von Afrobeats.
