Die lange verschollenen Aufnahmen des letzten Bob-Marley-Konzerts

Am 11. Mai 1981 erlag der jamaikanische Sänger und Gitarrist Bob Marley einem Krebsleiden, sein Todestag jährt sich heuer folglich zum 40. Mal. Ihr letztes Konzert gab die Reggae-Ikone am 23. September 1980 im Stanley Theatre in Pittburgh. Die Aufnahmen dieses Auftritts galten lange als verschollen und wurden erst im Jahr 2000 wiederentdeckt. 2011 folgte eine erste Veröffentlichung. Mit dabei in Pittsburgh waren auch die "I Threes": Das Gesangstrio - u.a. mit Ehefrau Rita Marley - war für den Backup-Gesang in Marleys Band The Wailers zuständig, interpretierte aber auch eigene Songs, an denen er sich nur als Gitarrist beteiligte. Obwohl Bob Marley beim Konzert in Pittsburgh schon in schlechter gesundheitlicher Verfassung war, lieferten er und seine Mitmusiker/innen ein musikalisch kraftvolles, finales Statement.
