1 mi2 – ONE SQUARE MILE

Musician Stergin’s newest project is an artistic initiative of promoting empathy & listening to each other in our ever so divided societies. Very personal conversations with people who live within 1 mi2 of the artist will inspire new musical compositions. In the past 20 years our societies are drifting further apart. The endless stream of information & misinformation on our devices makes it harder & harder to distinguish what is what. Sometimes it seems that everything has lost its meaning. The goal is to grow the project & find musicians/artists in each country of the planet who will follow the same process: interview someone in their own mi2 & create an artistic reaction to it. All these interviews & creations will then be shared on a website & then turned into a travelling exhibition. 1 mi2 I willl send a positive message from and into our communities and promote listening to each other and empathy. This starts in front of our own front doors. Website: http://www.on...

A Migration program to revitalize rural villages

Before the Pandemic, 6 million people were migrating to cities each month. The result is often social crisis and chaos in many of the world’s cities. Focused on the solution of this crisis we created ES VICIS Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Switzerland, whose goal is to foster sustainable and planned migration to rural towns and villages, to support their revitalization and empowerment, and ultimately to create thriving communities. Our "Welcome to my Village" program was designed to unlock the potential of small, rural towns and villages. It features three pillars: Welcome, Business, Home. You can join our efforts by watching and sharing this video and supporting the ES VICIS Foundation. BE THE CHANGE. https://esvicis.org/ www.facebook.com/esvicis

Artemis

We are a group of Palestinian and Israeli students in “MEET” program working together and developing an app that helps sexual assault victims. This app will start voice recording your surroundings when you say a certain word by your choice, in addition to sending an SOS message to 3 phone numbers. If you find yourself in a situation where you have been sexually assaulted, you just have to say your word, and you'll have recorded evidence against your offender, helping you report them to the police. The app also offers the victims the ability to share their experiences and support each other. And it also offers educational videos, articles, and lectures about sexual harassment, how to defend yourself, and information on emergency hotlines for victims of sexual assault.

BINDEE 🖇

We are the group of young enthusiasts from Ukraine, Norway, Belgium and Italy, who want to create a digital social platform to connect mentors and mentees over their passions and interests. We want to facilitate the opportunity to share one's passion by creating a passion-sharing platform. We noticed that during the lockdown a lot of people suffer from the lack of communication. That’s why we wanted to provide an opportunity for socialising safely. Our project creates a unique platform for collecting experiences, knowledge and passions and sharing it with others. In order to kickstart the platform by 1st of September 2022, we want to find 15 mentors by the 1st of August 2022 to host at least one mentorship programme/session on their passion and interests by the 30th of September 2022. Caring Infrastructures- “Catalog of Possibilities”

Investing the potential of the public space, during the pandemic and beyond. This is an exhibition dealing with the public space during which we lunched a “CALL FOR IDEAS” for project realizations in Austria and Tel Aviv. Asking questions like: What is your idea for the resilient city of tomorrow? How can we use the public space collectively in this “NEW” normality? Which places can support us in taking care of each other? This project is a collaboration of feld72, the Liebling Haus, the Tel Aviv municipality and the Austrian cultural forum.

Guiti News

Guiti News is an online  independent media in french and english. Our goal: talk about migration differently. In order to do that we are seeking to humanize trajectories of migrant people and rationalize a topic which is subject to a lot of fake news. The subject is omnipresent, but its treatment is incomplete and biased   Our specificity: We work in pairs of exiled and French journalists for a more balanced and complex perspective.  As journalists, we had all experienced a certain frustration with the treatment of migration and had the impression that ideologies and hatreds often prevailed. We wanted to break that, change the narrative.

Ilithyia

Hi! We are a group of Israeli and Palestinian Students from an organization called MEET in Israel. Our project is a discreet, multilingual, professionally sourced sex ed app. In our country, many teenagers don't have access to proper sex ed, if its because of the cultural and religious barriers, or simply because it isn't taught properly at schools. While anyone can go on the internet and look up some questions, not all the answers will be correct, and some may even be harmful. Our App will tackle the informational problem by using professionals as our sources, will be multilingual so that anyone no matter their language may understand it, and discreet - so that no one will be outed or put in danger. To top it all off, we plan to include gamification and "modern" ways of conveying the information (videos, games, memes, jokes) in addition to the more traditional paragraphs and articles. There may be many apps and books on Sexual Education, but very few are By Teenagers For Teenagers...

Music Safari

Why not mix up the music of different communities who live around Vienna? We bring normally boring public space to life, on a small budget, & give a Grätzl something to talk about. For Music Safari, dj Eugene (from London) plays open air, with music reflecting all the people who live nearby. With his city-storytelling group Whoosh, he takes locals on a dance adventure. After visiting a local school for research, the dj entertains the neighborhood with Turkish, Bosnian, Ukrainian, Roma, African, Bollywood & Austrian tunes. Anyone can ask for a special song they’d like to hear. Residents start to dance, & are surprised to hear ‘their’ music played by a Brit, & alongside other styles. It allows local children to lead the dancing, showing each other the right steps & moves. It helps validate their culture, & shows that those tunes don’t just belong at private house parties or weddings, but also out on the streets of Vienna.

Ngbaka EP

FULU MIZIKI roughly translates as “music from the garbage”, which in a literal sense is an accurate description of the thrillingly chaotic eco-friendly Afro-Futurist collective. The instruments they design, build and play are masterclasses in upcycling. From guembris built out of computer casing, to jerry-can drum-kits, keyboard inventions from wood, springs and aluminium pipes, and old flip-flops used as pads by plastic tube-wielding percussion players, the Democratic Republic of Congo-formed group’s ethos lies in the respect of nature, the celebration of its gifts and the importance of its preservation through environmentalism. The band explain on new single 'Bivada' - “This is for the man who walks without shoes in the middle of the bush to find food for their loved ones, this is for the Congolese women who have lost their lives trying to protect and raise us. This is to all the standing and fallen men and women around the world who wake up with nothing but manage to find f...

North-South Exchange: Sustainable Development

My name is Crislin Lind and I am 27 years old Estonian. I am a Project Assistant working through Manpower Group in Finland. I have been living in Finland since the beginning of 2018. There are a lot of people in Finland who hold a degree but cannot find a job due to the competitive market. There are so many people in underdeveloped countries, who would appreciate getting the chance to learn the research that we have done in Finland. I want to create a chance for a North-South exchange, where underdeveloped nations learn Sustainable Development from Finland. By spending time learning the research that the degree holders did and together implementing the research in underdeveloped countries, we are one step closer to a more balanced and sustainable world.
