De Structura

DE STRUCTURA’S goal is to empower young people in the arts and to provide them with the tools to, on the one hand, be successful in pursuing a meaningful career, and on the other, bringing innovation to an environment daunting for newcomers. Leading the project is a team of young artists and art professionals, who through first- hand experience understand how difficult it usually is to build a meaningful career in the sphere of arts and culture. What is the problem? One’s decision to become an artist or an art professional is often challenged by numerous questions. “Art is a hobby, not a profession, shouldn’t you choose something more sensible?” “It is a vocation for the wealthy and the elites, they will never let you in. Do you want to deal with this cruel reality?” “How are you going to pay your bills or get health insurance?” Being bombarded with such questions externally as well as internally, a lack of understanding of the institutional structures of the art world an...

Windmill restoring and museum in Ukraine

I am Denys Kabanenko, head of the non-profit public organization School of Robotics «Forward to the Future», located at Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine. Our team plans to restore and make an acting museum of cultural heritage Windmill built by the Mennonite Germans in 1888, located in the Zaporizhzhya region, Ukraine. In August 2021, thanks to grant opportunity program I-portunus by European Community our team visited the UNESCO Museum Kinderdijk Windmill Region at the Netherlands, where we met with miller community. After the visit, we already made a model of the windmill with mechanisms and prepared a preliminary reconstruction project. We hope that this museum will become a national symbol of Ukraine as an agricultural grain country. It will also become a popular tourist point for Ukrainian and international visitors. There is no future without history.

Youth social graffiti festival

We are a relatively small regional NGO and since 2014 we are working with the youth. Last year our NGO planned and held a 4-day regional youth social graffiti festival “Under the sign of Banksy”. During the festival, we combined contemporary art forms, such as forum theater and the graffiti itself, with lectures on human rights, held by famous Ukrainian lecturers from the Human Rights House in Chernihiv as well as experts in the field of forum theatre. Andriy Yermolenko was invited to act as a mentor for the participants in the process of creating their graffiti. 36 people ages 14 to 21 from all over the Vinnytsia region took part in this festival. We would like to network our experience with the organization of our festival to a national and international levels. A short video about the festival is available through this link: https://www.facebook.com/avtomaydanvin/videos/349046486295304

Danube Transformation Agency for Agency

DTAFA is an art group “in constant flux”, engaged to transform the relationship with the Danube. What could possible futures look like if we embrace the challenges we might face? What if we stopped trying to escape our misery, but rather decide to “stay with the trouble”? We decided to stay with the Danube! We are mapping the anticipated emergencies that the river might face in the future, producing experimental ‘solutions’: speculative maps, fish friendly swimming classes, underwater radios… Our experimental interactive forecast service “woodiana.today” reports on the status of the Anthropocene and sketches a variety of speculative futures. Come and swim with us at "Novi Sad - European Capital of Culture 2022", if it won't be already too late, and Danube dries up.

Precious Plastic Vienna - From Trash to Treasure

BIT.BIO.BOT

BIT.BIO.BOT contributes to questioning and re-designing some of the logics which led us to the current health crisis. If we, collectively, daily and locally, will contribute to transforming air pollutants and water contaminants into highly nutritious aliments, there will be fewer opportunities for unbalanced viral ecologies to exploit unsustainable food supply chains and polluted atmospheres to reach our organism and cause us harm.

BINDEE 🖇

We are the group of young enthusiasts from Ukraine, Norway, Belgium and Italy, who want to create a digital social platform to connect mentors and mentees over their passions and interests. We want to facilitate the opportunity to share one's passion by creating a passion-sharing platform. We noticed that during the lockdown a lot of people suffer from the lack of communication. That’s why we wanted to provide an opportunity for socialising safely. Our project creates a unique platform for collecting experiences, knowledge and passions and sharing it with others. In order to kickstart the platform by 1st of September 2022, we want to find 15 mentors by the 1st of August 2022 to host at least one mentorship programme/session on their passion and interests by the 30th of September 2022. Contact: alyapetrakova@gmail.com

The Green List

What is the problem? A few months ago, I sat down with a few of my friends to watch a football game. In the half-time we decided to order some sushi, each one of us picked 2-3 rolls and once we were done eating we realised how much trash we were leaving behind us - there were 57 different single-used items in that order alone. We had to throw away napkins, plastic utensils, boxes, sauces and other papers just because we couldn’t use them in our next order. We did some research and realised that this phenomenon is much bigger than we expected - in the EU alone we use over 2 billion takeaway containers each year. Your carbon footprint grows by 450% if you spend more than 60€ on takeaway each week and almost half of the plastics in the ocean can be linked to takeout foods. Who are we? We are the “green list”, an organisation based in Jerusalem (yet working mostly in Tel Aviv) that connects restaurants in order to help them fulfill a better and greener model of food deliverie...

Ngbaka EP

FULU MIZIKI roughly translates as “music from the garbage”, which in a literal sense is an accurate description of the thrillingly chaotic eco-friendly Afro-Futurist collective. The instruments they design, build and play are masterclasses in upcycling. From guembris built out of computer casing, to jerry-can drum-kits, keyboard inventions from wood, springs and aluminium pipes, and old flip-flops used as pads by plastic tube-wielding percussion players, the Democratic Republic of Congo-formed group’s ethos lies in the respect of nature, the celebration of its gifts and the importance of its preservation through environmentalism. The band explain on new single 'Bivada' - “This is for the man who walks without shoes in the middle of the bush to find food for their loved ones, this is for the Congolese women who have lost their lives trying to protect and raise us. This is to all the standing and fallen men and women around the world who wake up with nothing but manage to find f...
